Julie Paquet

Julie Paquet, Glam Gam’s co-founder and grandma is a wannabe drag queen who hails from a far away land known as the West Island. She headed for the big city as a young cat in order to pursue a thrilling career at the bank. It wasn’t long before she realized that the only things she liked about her 9-5 job were the “Working Girl” outfits she’d put together, the liquid lunches she’d keep in her lapel pocket and the occasional tit-slip at the office parties. One day she stumbled into a bubble bath with a couple of Newfs who made her realize there was more to life than a steady paycheck and dental benefits. Glam Gam was born a couple of weeks later over hangover breakfast in the gay village. Her main talents include tap dance solos, painting her carpet red (to match the drapes of course) and giving popicles away for free. She also hosts karaoke weekly with her creative life partner Michael J. McCarthy as well as Montreal’s premiere strip karaoke: Bareoke. She combines comedy, drag, camp, song and dance in the worst ways possible and loves to snack on stage. “All joking aside, without ever planning to, I have somehow made it my personal mission to help people feel ok in their skin and happy with their bodies through performance. Goddess knows, this has been a life-long struggle for me. This is what I do, this is what I live for!”
